The iPhone 4S is the latest model. It's predecessors the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS are still available new, as are the iPhone 3G and iPhone 2G although these last two are now only available secondhand.

The iPhone is without a doubt a great phone. Most people who own one love it and wouldn't change to any other. The iPhone 4 has come in for a lot of criticism - firstly for it's antenna problem and secondly for it's battery life. If you use it heavily it will eat through it's battery in a few hours, however this really isn't a problem provided you can recharge it. The antenna problem is also not a problem as long as you know how to hold the phone so as not to bridge the antenna. This problem is fixed in the iPhone 4S.

In the USA, the iPhone 4 comes in two different versions - the original AT&T iPhone 4 and the new (February 2011) Verizon version of the iPhone 4.These phones have different chipsets inside because of the different technologies used by these two carriers (Verizon use CDMA and AT&T use GSM) and are therefore not interchangeable.
